The Harvest Red

This beautiful Tree of Life tapestry depicts the harvest of a fruit tree. It was inspired by a 16th century woodblock print that my grandmother had in her home. It had been printed on linen and I thought it would look lovely interpreted in needle felt. Step One Using the technique of wet felting, I created my blank canvas, the red background, by exposing the wool to hot water and agitation. Step Two: Once that was complete, I needled the design to the surface with barbed needles that are specific to this technique. Step Three: Once the needling was complete, I saturated the entire piece with hot water and caused agitation once again to tighten all the fibers into one uniform fabric. To ensure that it will drape nicely on the wall, the wool is about 1/4 inch thick. It comes ready to hang on the wall with a dowel and sleeve apparatus handsewn on the back. Your tapestry may always be cleaned by hand washing with warm water and soap. Free shipping to the US! 13 x 27 inches
